The Difference Between Natural Perfume and Synthetic Fragrance Perfumes?

The Difference Between Natural Perfume and Synthetic Fragrance Perfumes?

We get this question a lot in store and it is what is the difference between natural perfume and synthetic fragrance perfume that is on the market today? Today, on the poppy blog we are being transparent about why it is important to switch to natural perfume and all the benefits beyond the lack of unknown chemicals rolling around in your roll on perfumes.

Let's start with what is in most perfumes today. Unfortunately, perfumes, body sprays, floating in makeup, skin care and even your hair care is an ingredient called "Fragrance." Fragrance defined by the FDA as a combination of chemicals that give each scent its unique profile. Most fragrances are derived from petroleum bases, and the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) lists 3,059 materials that are reported as being used in fragrance concoctions. Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, a national coalition of health and environmental groups, tested a group of celebrity perfumes, teen perfumes, and even luxury perfumes and found of 17 fragranced products they averaged fourteen secret chemicals per bottle. Beyond even the ingredients chemical perfumes are designed to smell the same on everyone. For example when you smell someone and they walk in the room you can recognize the scent. It is why you can sometimes even smell on clothes, what laundry detergent someone is using. There have been times I can smell that someone is using Tide laundry detergent or Gain even when they walk by.

Natural perfumes on the other hand is what you see is what you get like lavender oil, fir oil, floral oils, spices, and natural forms of musk like sandalwood and pepper. Natural perfumes are formulated with real ingredients not chemical makeup ups to smell like oranges. The same can be said about eating a cherry flavored product verses the unbeatable and juicy texture of eating a real cherry. The flavor or smell in this instance can just not be replicated. Additionally, Natural perfumes are designed to smell different on everyone, the oils and ingredients will alter beautifully with your body temperature and skin to give you a truly unique scent. Using a natural perfume will bring a very romantic and alluring presence to your persona by radiating a scent that is truly you. Therefore, when you walk by people they notice you smell good and they are not detecting a mass produced fragrance with brand name recognition. Additionally oils will also have an aromatherapy effect like a citrus blend will be uplifting to your mood, fir oils will be grounding scents, and rose scents will be heart healing and boost your confidence.
